(CTTĐTBP) - On the morning of 11/8, in the House of the Assembly, continuing the 14th session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly considered and adopted two draft resolutions on: The establishment of Binh Phu town , Cai Lay District, Tien Giang province; Established the Chon Thanh town and established the Chon Thanh wards and Binh Phuoc province.

According to the resolution passed by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, after the establishment of the Chon Thanh commune and the establishment of five wards under the Chon Thanh township, Binh Phuoc province did not change with the natural area, population and number of administrative units at the sub-district or commune level but with an increase of 1 town (Chon Thanh township), a reduction of 1 district (Chon Thanh district), and a reduction of 1 township and 4 communes; There are 11 county-level administrative divisions: 1 city, 3 towns and 7 districts; 111 communes.

The Chon Thanh town after its establishment had 390.34 km2 of natural area and population size of 121,083; There are 9 administrative divisions, 5 ward: Hung Long, Thanh Tri, Minh Hung, Minh Long, Minh Thanh and 4 communes: Minh Lap, Minh Thang, Nha Bich, Quang Minh.

Chon Thanh District is located in the southwest of Binh Phuoc province, 35km from Dong Xoai downtown , 55km from Thu Dau Mot city in Binh Duong, and 80km from Ho Chi Minh city. The terrain is relatively flat, located near major industrial centers, with arterial roads such as National Highway 13, National Highway 14, Ho Chi Minh Road... Favorable for commodity trade, which connects Binh Phuoc Province with development centers such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and the Kingdom of Cambodia via Hoa Lu International border gate.

Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue-The Chairman of the National Assembly expressed approval that the Standing Committee of the National Assembly would issue a resolution establishing the Chon Thanh town at the proposal of the government. Having visited and worked in Binh Phuoc, the Speaker of the National Assembly said earlier, there had been a high rate of industrialization in Chon Thanh district, a high rate of urbanization, a uniform, and a high level of annual revenue. The President of Congress is confident that Chon Thanh will be the driving force for development for Binh Phuoc Province, as well as for the southern Key economic region.

In the General Planning for Socio-economic Development of Binh Phuoc Province of the period 2006-2020 (Decision No.194/2006 /QD-TTg of August 24, 2006 of the Prime Minister), Chon Thanh district is within the central region of Binh Phuoc Province, the direction to focus on industry - tourism - services development associated with important traffic axes. This is a densely populated, urbanized region that is responsible for the overall socio-economic development in Binh Phuoc province.

As for Tien Giang province, after the establishment of Binh Phu town in Cai Lay district, the natural area, population, and number of administrative units at district and commune levels remained unchanged, but increased by 1 town. Binh Phu town), down 1 commune (Binh Phu commune). Tien Giang province has 11 district-level administrative units, including: 1 city, 2 towns and 8 districts; 172 commune-level administrative units include: 142 communes, 22 wards and 8 townships. The urbanization rate (after the establishment of Binh Phu town) reached 15.31%. Cai Lay district after the creation of Binh Phu Township did not change in the natural area, population and number of administrative units at the commune level, but changed one township to a town from 16 communes to 15 communes and one township./.
